Sperm freezing offers the opportunity to preserve your fertility for the future. The method is a simple, safe, and reliable option in situations where pregnancy is not yet timely or when you are facing treatments or procedures that may affect sperm production.
Our goal is to provide a safe and personalized solution exactly when you need it.
Freezing, or fertility preservation, is an option to store your biological material for the future if conception is not currently possible or planned.
Sperm preservation is often considered before medical treatments, such as cancer treatment or surgeries, which may result in a decline in sperm quality. Recently, men have also been opting to freeze their sperm as a preventive measure—for example, when they plan to have children later. Freezing may also be a sensible step in situations where a decline in sperm quality is suspected.
At our clinic, sperm undergoes a professional and rapid freezing process and is stored under controlled conditions for years.
Many men only start thinking about their fertility when starting a family becomes a reality. In fact, sperm quality can change over time due to age, lifestyle, and various health conditions. We recommend watching the webinar on male fertility by our clinic’s andrologist, Dr. Kristjan Pomm.
If you feel you would like more information about your fertility, you are welcome to visit our clinic for a fertility consultation. During the consultation, we will discuss your health status, potential risk factors, and how to maintain your fertility. If necessary, we will recommend additional tests or discuss the option of sperm freezing.

Before freezing sperm, a semen analysis is always performed to assess the quality of the sperm cells. Based on this, we also discuss how many freezing cycles may be necessary, depending on the quality of the sample.
Freezing the sperm cells is a simple process—the semen sample is processed in a laboratory and then frozen. Often, freezing is performed multiple times, depending on the sample’s quality and the intended use. Frozen sperm remains viable for years.
The semen sample is provided at the clinic in a private and comfortable room. We recommend abstaining from sexual intercourse and ejaculation for 2–5 days prior to providing the sample to ensure the best possible sample quality.
In the laboratory, the quality and quantity of the sperm are analyzed. The semen is purified and mixed with a special freezing solution (cryoprotectant), which protects the sperm cells from ice crystals and other potential damage that can occur during freezing.
The sperm cells are frozen at a very low temperature (–196 °C). If possible, the sample is divided into several straws so that in the future, the entire sample does not need to be thawed at once, but only the exact amount needed for the procedure can be used.
Samples are stored in special containers in the clinic’s laboratory under strict control. You can conveniently review the general conditions for freezing and storing sperm on our website.
Frozen sperm can be thawed and used in fertility treatments, such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF/ICSI) procedures.
Treatment options and choices are always determined on an individual basis in collaboration with a fertility specialist and an embryologist, with the goal of achieving the best possible treatment outcome.
We use a clinically proven and safe freezing technique in which sperm cells are rapidly cooled to a very low temperature. This protects the cells and allows them to retain their viability after thawing.
The method is standardized and widely used internationally, ensuring excellent results even after long-term storage.
Pregnancy outcomes achieved with frozen sperm are very good today—often nearly equivalent to those with fresh sperm. However, success is influenced by several factors, including sperm quality, the chosen treatment method, and the partner’s age.
Our specialists always assess your individual situation and recommend a treatment solution that will yield the best possible outcome.
Every patient’s situation is unique. That is why, before freezing sperm, we always carefully assess both your health status and your wishes and goals.
