Going through IVF – a personal experience

None

The longing for a child can grow strong, but the path to get there is not always straightforward. For some, it is marked by uncertainty, waiting, and decisions that require both courage and perseverance. In this interview, one of Ovumia’s patients openly and intimately shares her journey through fertility challenges, the hope that keeps her going, and the love that carries her through even the most trying moments.

Have you always wanted children?

I have always wanted children, and we have wanted them for a long time.

How did you come to the decision that IVF was the next step for you?

My cycle was irregular and unpredictable. I never got a positive result on ovulation tests, etc. We never became pregnant despite years of unprotected sex. After trying ovulation stimulation without results, we decided, in consultation with a doctor, to apply for IVF.

What made you choose Ovumia?

I was recommended to try Ovumia by a midwife during a cervical screening.

Did you have any thoughts or concerns before starting the treatment?

I have always been worried that we might never be able to have children of our own. When you are life partners, you don’t want anything else.

What was the most challenging part of the IVF process for you?

The psychological aspect of IVF has been tough—waiting and not knowing. We have attended couples therapy throughout the process, and it has helped! You really have to hold on tightly to each other. Despite how tough it has been to go through fertility treatment, we have felt that we received fantastic care and encouragement from the team at Ovumia. Without that, it would have been very difficult.

Was there anything that surprised you during the treatment journey?

What surprised me the most was probably the different phases of the body and how everything worked. It’s always discouraging with negative tests and having to start a new cycle. It’s difficult to keep your spirits up.

How did you experience the support from the team at Ovumia during your treatment?

Everyone at Ovumia has been fantastic. It feels like I’ve met everyone, and I have never felt uncomfortable or down after a visit. I’ve always felt encouraged and listened to.

If you could go back, what would you say to yourself at the beginning of your fertility journey?

Stay strong and keep going. Of course you will get through this! Don’t focus on things you cannot control.

What would you say to someone who is currently going through IVF?

Try to focus on love for yourself and your partner, and find comfort in knowing that you are receiving help.
