Miscarriage and care
Miscarriage can also occur in pregnancies achieved through fertility treatment.
If a miscarriage is diagnosed, you may be referred to public healthcare for further treatment, or medical management of the miscarriage can be provided at an Ovumia clinic. If the miscarriage is complete and there is no remaining pregnancy tissue in the uterus, no further treatment is usually needed.
A POC (products of conception) sample can be taken from the pregnancy tissue to investigate whether a chromosomal abnormality may have contributed to the miscarriage. A niPOC test uses a blood sample from the pregnant patient to assess whether a chromosomal abnormality may have been involved.
When a miscarriage is diagnosed, your doctor will discuss possible reasons for the miscarriage with you and whether there are any measures that may help reduce the risk in a future pregnancy.
The grief and emotions associated with miscarriage can also be supported through our therapy services.
