Katja Paastela

I am Katja, an IVF midwife at Ovumia. Working as a fertility nurse is close to my heart. I meet clients individually and provide counseling, guidance, and emotional support throughout the different stages of fertility treatment. I find fertility treatments particularly interesting and meaningful as they combine professional expertise, sensitive interaction, and long-term support. My goal is to accompany the client safely and reassuringly throughout the treatment journey.

Background: 

• Graduated as midwife-nurse in 1998 
• Worked as a midwife in the maternity ward at Jorvi Hospital immediately after graduation 
• Started IVF nursing at Väestöliitto in 2000–2002 
• Gained experience in gynecology and maternity outpatient clinics for nearly 10 years 
• Trained as first-trimester ultrasound midwife 
• Worked as product specialist in gynecology and obstetrics for 9 years in a Finnish health technology company 
• Started as IVF midwife at Ovumia in March 2024
