These predictions also serve as an important tool for the doctor and the rest of the medical team in planning the most suitable treatment method.
Clinical results are reported per treatment cycle. A single treatment cycle means that all eggs retrieved in one procedure are fertilised and cultured into embryos. The resulting embryos are transferred to the uterus one at a time. On average, each cycle results in 2–4 embryos suitable for transfer. Each embryo transfer represents a new opportunity for pregnancy and the birth of a child. Pregnancy may occur and result in a live birth after the first transfer, the third, or not even after the transfer of the last embryo. Once all embryos from one treatment cycle have been used in embryo transfers, the treatment cycle is considered completed.

The ultimate goal of a successful treatment is the birth of a healthy baby. We are delighted to say that at Ovumia, Up to 80% of our clients have a child as a result of their treatments (after one or more treatment cycles done). The chart below shows pregnancy rates per one treatment cycle using either own or donor eggs. Pregnancy refers to a positive pregnancy test, clinical pregnancy means a pregnancy confirmed by ultrasound, and ongoing/live birth refers to a continuing pregnancy or one that has resulted in childbirth.
Several factors influence the success of fertility treatments, and a woman’s age is one of the most significant. Fertility naturally declines over time — a universal biological process that affects all women, not only those needing fertility treatment.
The graph below illustrates pregnancy outcomes per treatment cycle across different age groups, comparing results with a woman’s own eggs and with donated eggs. Among women under 35 years of age, 79% achieve pregnancy after a single treatment cycle. For women aged 35–39, the pregnancy rate is 56%, and for those over 39, it is 40%. When donor eggs are used, the pregnancy rate per treatment cycle rises to 83%.

The most common and effective form of fertility treatment is in vitro fertilisation (IVF or ICSI). The success rate per treatment cycle is relatively high. Below, we present the success rates of IVF treatments performed at Ovumia clinics, measured per treatment cycle. The data include consecutive IVF treatments carried out in 2023–2024, where at least one embryo was obtained in the cycle.

A woman’s age also influences the number of embryos obtained per treatment cycle. The number of embryos varies significantly with age: among women under 35 years of age, at least two embryos are obtained in nearly 80% of cycles, whereas for women over 39, the corresponding rate is below 40% (Table 2).
