A single woman is someone who wishes to become a parent without a partner. She can have a child on her own by using fertility treatments and donated gametes. The core of the treatment is to enable a woman to have a child through high-quality donor sperm sourced from a sperm bank.

If your goal is to have a child on your own through fertility treatment, you will need donated sperm from Ovumia’s sperm bank.
The minimum age for starting treatment is 23, but the doctor always makes the final decision based on each individual case. We provide treatments for single women up to the age of 46.
The fertility treatment options available for single women include insemination, in vitro fertilization (IVF), and in some cases, double donation treatment using both donor sperm and donor eggs. The treatment journey usually begins with a lighter method of insemination and progresses to more advanced methods if needed. All options are described below. The most suitable treatment method will be chosen together with your doctor at the first consultation.
The most common option is insemination, and it is typically the first treatment method. During insemination, the best, motile sperm are selected from the semen sample and placed into the uterus with a thin catheter at the time of ovulation. Fertilization then takes place naturally inside the woman’s body.
Sometimes the most suitable treatment option may be IVF.
During IVF, eggs collected from the woman are combined with selected sperm to allow for fertilization. One embryo is transferred into the uterus, and any additional embryos are frozen for future use.
Both IUI and IVF use donor sperm. Ovumia has its own sperm bank with registered Finnish donors. Our donors are healthy men aged 20–45, living in Finland, who wish to help individuals and couples experiencing infertility.
Patients can usually choose a donor based on ethnic background, eye and hair color, or height. Alternatively, donor sperm can be ordered from the European Sperm Bank.
Double donation treatment uses both donor sperm and donor eggs. The procedure can be carried out with either fresh or frozen donor eggs.
