Insemination is usually the first fertility treatment option for female couples. During the procedure, donor sperm is gently placed into the uterus of the partner undergoing treatment, allowing fertilization to occur naturally inside the body.
Insemination is often chosen as a first-line treatment because it is simple, effective, and affordable. However, in some situations — such as when insemination is not technically possible — IVF may be recommended from the start.
The success of insemination depends on age and underlying fertility health. Before treatment, your doctor will evaluate whether fallopian tube patency testing or other examinations are needed.
The pregnancy rate per insemination cycle is typically around 10–15%, and most pregnancies occur during the first three to four cycles. In female couples without fertility challenges beyond the absence of sperm, success rates are often higher than average.
During IVF, hormone stimulation is used to mature several eggs, which are then collected and fertilized with donor sperm in our laboratory.
On average, around 70% of eggs fertilize normally, and approximately 30–50% of fertilized eggs develop into high-quality embryos. One embryo is selected and transferred to the uterus 2–5 days after fertilization. Remaining embryos are frozen for possible future use.
Approximately 30–40% of fresh embryo transfers result in a clinical pregnancy. In the best case, frozen embryos can later be used if you wish to have another child.
In double donation treatment, both the egg and sperm are donated.
The uterus of the partner undergoing treatment is prepared with medication prior to embryo transfer. Donated eggs and sperm are fertilized via IVF or ICSI in the laboratory, and the resulting embryo is transferred to the uterus. Any remaining embryos may be frozen for future use.
